Lectionary Worship Aids
Cycle C, Series IV
Call To Worship
Leader: Praise be to the Lord, for we are each one restored by God's Holy Word.
People: Not by the words of our wisdom or by our deeds, but in Christ our Lord.
Leader: Indeed the Word of the Lord has restored our souls and made us whole.
People: Each one of us is a personal witness of the power and love of God.
Leader: Let us lift our voices together in praise to Christ our Lord and Savior.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
Eternal and Almighty God, we read in Your Scriptures of the wonderful way You restored the ancient ones, and we desire in our hearts to know Your healing power in our land today. Restore us, O Lord. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, as is so common today, we have often sought our restoration in our own technologies and understandings, and we have failed to seek You. When all other avenues of help have failed, only then do we turn to You. Forgive us, Lord, and give us the courage to seek Your leadership and guidance first in our lives and not just as a last resort. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"Since Jesus Came Into My Heart"
"Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus"
"I Know Whom I Have Believed"
Proper 9
Sunday between July 3 and July 9 inclusive
Second Lesson: Galatians 6:(1-6) 7-16
Theme: Sow in the Spirit
Call To Worship
Leader: Let us lift our voices in praise to Almighty God, for Christ is risen!
People: No longer need we fear death nor are the world's standards ours.
Leader: For we are called to live by the love of Christ without fear.
People: Christ holds our eternity and no other force can take it from us.
Leader: Then let us live boldly for Christ, for we are servants of Almighty God!
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
Most wonderful and loving God, in Your wonderful wisdom You have shown us that if we expect to receive Your eternity, we must sow our seed not in the world but with You. We praise You, Lord. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
O God, sometimes we have not remembered Your warning that we will reap what we sow, and we have sown our crops not in eternity but in fields of this world. Instead of abiding by Your word, we have chosen to live "our own way" and we have been sorrowed by the harvest we receive. Forgive us, Lord, and lead us again to sow in Your wonderful fields. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"Bringing In The Sheaves"
"Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee"
"Sweet, Sweet Spirit"
Proper 9
Sunday between July 3 and July 9 inclusive
Gospel: Luke 10:1-11, 16-20
Theme: "The harvest is plentiful"
Call To Worship
Leader: The fields are ripe for harvest, but who will reap for the Lord?
People: Let each one who has known God's mercy and grace now serve the Lord.
Leader: Truly only those who know the living Lord can lead the lost to salvation.
People: Then let our hearts be resolute that we shall carry Christ to the world!
Leader: And let our hearts be filled with joy for each who receives the Lord!
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
O God, You are the Lord of the harvest and we are so honored that You have called us to help in the task. Give us the strength and the courage to share faithfully Your Gospel. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, You have called upon us to share Your wonderful salvation with those around us, but we have often been reluctant or we have been "too busy." We have let the opinions others might have about us keep us from boldly sharing Your love. Forgive us, Lord, and fill us anew with Your presence. Send us again to proclaim Your Gospel to the world. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"Softly And Tenderly"
"Count Your Blessings"
"This Is My Father's World"
