Call To Worship
Leader: From where does our confidence arise?
People: From you, O sustaining God, who has promised to accompany us through all things.
Leader: How do we maintain a strong sense of purpose?
People: You, O giving God, persist in sending us forward with your blessing.
Leader: From what source does our well of determination spring?
People: From you, O creating God, within whose awareness we have been since before we were born.
Collect
We praise you, O God, source of our own creative spirit. We praise you, who keeps us in your divine mind. We worship you by keeping you in our hearts and minds. Through Christ. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
When our confidence lags and we wonder what we can say or do to make a constructive difference in our work or in other relationships, teach us to relax inside, O God, and become open to your being. Remind us of the possibility you gave us with our capacity to ponder, to reason, and to become aware of the miracles of insight and a new idea. Through the Holy Spirit. Amen.

People: If I do not have love, I am nothing.
Leader: Don't I have to stomp on other people in my way?
People: If I do not have love, I gain nothing.

You surprise us, O God, with the patience you show us, and we try again. You surprise us with the clarity of your love, and we are able to meet others with a loving spirit. Call To Worship
Jesus had the integrity to be of single purpose. Telling the truth from the beginning led him to the brow of a hill. He had the mettle to face the crowds, walk through the midst of them, and be on his way. Let us celebrate the strength of Jesus.
Collect
How firm a foundation you have laid for us, O God, in the person of Jesus. How strong your promise to walk with us through dissenting clique and crowd. How uncompromising your plan for a better way of living. Thank you, O God. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Dear God, we would rather evade issues than address them and risk fallings out. We would rather fudge a little and endear ourselves to others. We would rather not speak the truth when speaking the truth becomes hazardous. We would prefer to avoid insecurity. Turn us around. Help us be brave. For the sake of Christ. Amen.
12C Hymns1
"How Firm A Foundation" Tune: ADESTE FIDELES or FOUNDATION
"Give To The Winds Your Fears" or "Give Up Your Anxious Pains" Tune: ICH HALTE

1. As a closing response throughout the remaining Sundays of Epiphany, sing "Take My Life, [And][God], Let It Be" Tune: VIENNA, using a different verse each week.
