Lord, in your mercy
Hear our prayer
Lord, hear us.
Lord, graciously hear us.
All-seeing God, I feel uncomfortable about you seeing right into my soul, because I suspect there are things there that you'd hate. I'm not really aware of them, they're buried so deep, but I'm so afraid you'll discover them and be revolted by me. All-seeing God, help me to really believe that you actually love me just as I am, that you're not looking for perfection, and that my outer facade is fooling no-one but myself. And then Lord, help me to hold your hand and come out into the open, so that you can see me clearly under the fig tree.
All-seeing God, help me to really believe that you actually love me just as I am and that you're not looking for perfection. And then Lord, help me to allow you to see me clearly under the fig tree.
All-seeing God, may your Church become translucent, so that all can see that it has no guile. May your Church become aware of all areas within it which are opaque, so that you can remove them. Shine your light into the darkness within and enable all Christians to leave behind their fear and emerge into your light. In this Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, may we recognise each other's gifts and insights and wholeheartedly embrace all Christians everywhere. With Christians world-wide we pray especially today for your Church in Kuopia (Finland) with Bishop Willie Riekkinen and the World Council of Churches with all promoting Christian unity.

All-seeing God, take away the confusion caused by different political opinions and let the scales drop from our eyes so that we are able to see what is right and good in our world and what ought to be changed. Give us the courage to be honest about our beliefs and to fight for justice, especially for those who are unable to fight for themselves. We pray especially today for...

All-seeing God, we pray for those within our community who have learning difficulties. May we learn from their childlike innocence so that we all become people in whom there is no guile. Help us to appreciate the dreamers and visionaries in our society, and to salute those who are able to be themselves, rather than pretending to be something better. In our own community we pray especially today for ...

All-seeing God, before we ask, you know all about those who need help at the moment. All-seeing God, we pray for the dying and for those who watch and wait at their bedsides, consumed with worry and grief. May the path of the dying being smoothed and hastened towards you, and may their pain be diminished. We pray for all who have died recently, and for the families and friends they leave behind them, and we remember too those who have sad memories at the moment. We name them all before you ...
