Almighty God Our Heavenly Father...
Intercession
Prayers usually include these concerns and may follow this sequence:
These responses may be used:
Let us pray for the Church and for the world, and let us thank God for his goodness.
Almighty God our heavenly father, you promised through your Son Jesus Christ to hear us when we pray in faith.
God of Creation, when four friends brought a paralysed man to you, you did a new thing. You reassured him that he was forgiven by God, and then you turned his life upside down, for you made him able to get up and walk. God of Creation, your church needs something new, that it too may get up and walk. We pray especially today for your church in the Sudan, where those who have fled in terror from their homes are still too afraid to return.
Strengthen N our bishop and all your Church in the service of Christ; that those who confess your name may be united in your truth, live together in your love, and reveal your glory in the world.
Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
God of justice, the more we hear in the media, the more justice seems to be in short supply. May those in power throughout the world face their own souls and recognise their own sin, that all may live in a live in a better society. We pray especially for the Peace process in Northern Ireland, that people may generously surrender their entrenched attitudes so that peace for all may prevail.
Bless and guide Elizabeth our queen; give wisdom to all in authority; and direct this and every nation in the ways of justice and of peace; that we may honour one another, and seek the common good.
Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
God of compassion, it's difficult to recognise our own sin and to know when we damage others by things we say and do. It feels like if we don't take anything on, we can't be held responsible for any problems or failures. But you tell us to get up and take risks.
Give grace to us, our families and frineds, and to all our neighbours; that we may serve Christ in one another, and love as he loves us.
Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
God of the future, we bring into your presence those of our friends and families who are sick. Lay your healing hands upon them that they too may take up their beds and walk. We name them in our own hearts...
Comfort and heal all those who suffer in body, mone or spirit...; give them courage and hope in their troubles; and bring them the joy of your salvation.
Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
God of love, some of our friends feel hurt and bereft because someone they love has died, either recently, or in previous years at this time. May they feel your arms around them, giving them the strength and support and love they need. Especially we remember the family of ...., and those for whom this time of year brings a sad anniversary....
Hear us as we remember those who have died in the faith of Christ....; according to your promises grant us with them a share in your eternal kingdom.
Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
Rejoicing in the fellowship of (N and of) all your saints, we commend ourselves and all people to your unfailing love.
Merciful Father,
Accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
