Bountiful God...
Intercession
Prayers usually include these concerns and may follow this sequence:
The Church of Christ
Creation, human society, the Sovereign and those in authority
The local community
Those who suffer
The communion of saints
These responses may be used:
Lord, in your mercy
Hear our prayer
Lord, hear us.
Lord, graciously hear us.
Bountiful God, I feel so suspicious when something amazing is offered to me for free, like there must be a catch. I can't imagine how you can invite me to your wonderful feast, because I haven't done anything to merit your praise, or even your notice. Bountiful God, help me to accept your unbelievable gifts. Enable me to become aware that you are simply super-generous, and merit doesn't feature at all in your scheme of things. Help me to shed my suspicion and distrust, so that I may enjoy your huge goodness to the full and share in the party with no holds barred.

Bountiful God, you give so much to your Church, but we often fail to identify your gifts. We often complain that we can't move forward because we don't have the skills to do so. Remind us that there are sufficient gifts within each church community for that community to flourish, and enable us to identify those gifts within ourselves and within each other.
With Christians world-wide we pray especially today for your Church in Tanzania and Archbishop Donald Mtetmela.

Bountiful God, give us all a sense of community with each other, that we may regard all human beings as part of our family and give them the love and the respect they deserve. May those in authority over us have our best interests at heart and work towards one world where all human beings are equally important. Give food to those who are hungry and raise our level of consciousness so that we may show our concerns for the whole world in practical ways.

Bountiful God, give us peace and unity within our community. May we guard our lips from unkind words or passing on gossip. Where there are difficulties, give us the strength and the courage to face each other and iron out our differences. Above all, may we never be the cause of disunity or bringing the gospel into disrepute.

Bountiful God, enable us to support those who are suffering from the grief of bereavement. Through us and our care for them, may they know your love and the strength of your Spirit, and may they know that those they love are even now enjoying your feast. We name them before you ...and those who continue to grieve over a death in previous years at this time ...
