God Of Creation...
Intercession
Prayers usually include these concerns and may follow this sequence:
The Church of Christ Creation, human society, the Sovereign and those in authority The local community Those who suffer The communion of saints
These responses may be used:
Lord, in your mercy Hear our prayer Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
God of creation, living closely together is difficult, especially when emotions come into effect. We pray for all members of your world-wide Church, especially those living within the confines of religious communities. Give them patience and openness towards each other, that they may learn to appreciate each other's gifts. In our own church, we especially ask your guidance over our future direction, that we may follow where you lead.
God of justice, injustice so often occurs because those with power are sometimes unaware of their true motivation, and may disguise evil as good. Help world leaders, that they may always seek the truth and the right. And help us all from childhood onwards, that we may clearly distinguish between fact and fantasy.
God of compassion, you have made us complex beings, with unconscious and hidden motives which may sometimes determine our behaviour. Help us all to peel away the layers, that we may begin to know ourselves as you know us. Fill us with concern for those who are poor in any way, and send us out to relieve their poverty as you relieved poverty when you were here on earth.
God of the future, we bring into your presence those who are sad or sick or troubled at this time. We particularly remember the people of ... in their tragedy. Lay your healing hands on those of their number who are sick, and on those we name in our own hearts....
God of love, we feel for those who suffer from extreme loneliness because of bereavement. May they know that there are human friends to whom they can turn for support and comfort, and that you are always available for them. We remember those who have died recently ... and those who died at this time of year in previous years ... and we thank you that we now join with them in the great communion of saints.
Merciful Father,
Accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
