God Of The Impossible...
Intercession
Prayers usually include these concerns and may follow this sequence:
The Church of Christ
Creation, human society, the Sovereign and those in authority
The local community
Those who suffer
The communion of saints
These responses may be used:
Lord, in your mercy
Hear our prayer
Lord, hear us.
Lord, graciously hear us.
God of the impossible, perhaps I rarely hear your voice because at some deep level I'm aware you may invite me to attempt that which appears to be impossible, and I'm terrified. Much easier not to tune into your voice. God of the impossible, give me the courage and strength of character displayed by young Mary, when you invited her to become mother of the Messiah. And God, please remind me of those rich depths I too can experience, if only I have the courage to trust you and follow you.

God of the impossible, it sometimes feels as though your injunction to "....go and make disciples of all nations..." is impossible for today's Church. Other people don't want to hear. We are too few. We're not on the same wave length as those outside. We don't have the necessary skills. As the feast day of his birthday approaches, help us Lord, to tell others the open secret of the Good News of Jesus Christ. With Christians world-wide we pray especially today for your Church in West Africa with Archbishop Robert Okine and your Church in Southwell (UK) with Bishop George Cassidy.

God of the impossible, in the world's violence there will probably be an uneasy truce called on Christmas Day. It seems impossible that peace and goodwill towards all people will ever become a reality, yet this is our prayer. May angels bring messages of hope throughout your world this Christmas, and like Mary, may we hear your word and act upon it. We pray especially today for...

God of the impossible, as Christmas approaches we pray for all the children within our community, asking that this Christmas they may all know themselves to have been touched by you. In the excitement of the season help them to remember others, as we too remember those children in other communities who are less fortunate. We particularly remember those who are hungry on Christmas Day and those who are afraid in this season of peace and happiness. In our own community we pray especially today for ...

God of the impossible, we ask for your blessing on those who are too sick to enjoy the Christmas season, and on those who look after them. Be with medial staff and all who work on Christmas Day. We name before you those who are sick, asking you to touch them with healing ....

God of the impossible, we pray for those who are dreading Christmas because someone they love has died recently. We hold in your presence all who will be lonely this Christmas because of a death of a family member or close friend, and we remember too those who are always sad at Christmas because it marks a sad anniversary. We name them before you ...
