God Of Love And Forgiveness...
Intercession
Prayers usually include these concerns and may follow this sequence:
The Church of Christ Creation, human society, the Sovereign and those in authority The local community Those who suffer The communion of saints
These responses may be used:
Lord, in your mercy Hear our prayer Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
God of love and forgiveness, why did you put the tree in the garden if human beings were forbidden to touch it? Why did you create human beings to have such weak wills? Was it just to test humanity, to try our strength?
Do you just watch us, or are you a part of what goes on within each of us? Are you really there? Do you genuinely care about us, or is the world just a continuing test? Why don't you stop the fighting, especially in your own Holy Land? Why do you allow people to continue to suffer through natural disasters for which they're not responsible?
God of love and forgiveness, we are often uncertain and bewildered, and our uncertainty causes us to turn away from you. We destroy our own environment. We allow so many sections of humanity to die, through war, through famine, through neglect.
God of love and forgiveness, mend what is broken in and around us, and help us to create a new world that we may steward it properly.
Pour your love and healing power on those who are sick in body, mind or soul, especially ...
Guide our scientists to create only those drugs which help to restore health, only that technology which benefits creation.
Comfort and support the relatives of those thousands who have died, in El Salvador, in India, in the Holy Land, in Serbia. And comfort and support the relatives of those who have died in our own community....
God of love and forgiveness, help us to remember that the opposite of faith is not doubt, but certainty. And help us to know your love and care deep within ourselves.
We ask these prayers in the name of the one who died for love of us, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Merciful Father,
Accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
