Loving And Tolerant God...
Intercession
Prayers usually include these concerns and may follow this sequence:
The Church of Christ
Creation, human society, the Sovereign and those in authority
The local community
Those who suffer
The communion of saints
These responses may be used:
Lord, in your mercy
Hear our prayer
Lord, hear us.
Lord, graciously hear us.
Loving and tolerant God, you make my choices so simple and straightforward, but I generally try to complicate the issues. Perhaps that's my way of avoiding the starkness of your choices. Life is so much easier for me if I divide people into categories and allow those categories to determine the degree of authority that I'm willing to recognise. But human authority doesn't carry much weight with you, for your authority is within. Loving and tolerant God, help me to get rid of those prejudices and misconceptions which blind me to other people's qualities because I can only see their station in life. Enable me to discern inner authority, and to give it weight. Help me so to love, that my love overflows into actions which come from my heart.

Loving and tolerant God, give to your Church that gift of genuine humility which never relies on external social structure but results in strong inner authority. May your Church be aware of the dangers of excess pomp and circumstance, but also aware of false modesty and false humility. Help all members of your Church to value themselves appropriately, so that they may use the gifts you have given them, in your service.
With Christians world-wide we pray especially today for your Church in Tanzania with Archbishop Donald Mtetemela and your Church in Agder (Norway) with Bishop Olav Skjevesland.

Loving and tolerant God, we thank you for all types of harvest which have been safely gathered in this year. We pray especially for those farmers whose harvest has failed, or whose yield has been poor, or who suffer because the price of their product has plummeted. Be with all those who strive to ensure that all farmers get a fair price for their produce, and may those who constantly struggle against starvation know how precious they are in your sight.

Loving and tolerant God, within our own community help us to tolerate those things which should be tolerated and to resist those things which should be resisted. And loving God, give us the wisdom to discern which is which. Spare us from falling into the trap of denouncing anything new or different, or resisting simply because we dislike change. But give us the courage to be honest and forthright in maintaining genuine Christian values.

Loving and tolerant God, your love for us is so immense that you count the very hairs on our heads and hide us under the shadow of your wings. We commend especially to your loving and healing touch those of our friends and families who are ill, and we name them before you ...
