Lord, in your mercy
Hear our prayer
Lord, hear us.
Lord, graciously hear us.
Universal God, you love all your children. You aren't concerned with entry tickets of creed or colour, sickness or health, wealth or poverty. All are welcome at your table, all are offered freedom in your kingdom. Universal God, help me to follow your lead. Make me sensitive to others, so that I become aware when I'm excluding them. Show me the inner reaches of my heart, so that I begin to know my own deeply held prejudices and dislikes. And then, dear God of all humanity, give me the humility to admit my own failures, to welcome others and to tell them of your kingdom.
Universal God, make me sensitive to others, so that I become aware when I'm excluding them. And give me the humility to admit my own failures, to welcome others and to tell them of your kingdom.
Universal God, may we in your Church welcome all comers. May we treat the high and the lowly just the same, following your lead. May we never be guilty of excluding others, and may we never judge others. Help us to remember that every human being has a voice, and that we Christians should listen to all with due care and attention. With Christians world-wide we pray especially today for your Church in Hong Kong.

Universal God, it is so easy to regard other human beings as a group and thus exclude them. Forgive us for our nationalistic pride, which regards other people as "foreigners". Forgive us for our greed, which would exclude "foreign" workers from our country. Forgive us for our fear, which would exclude "asylum seekers". Help all of us to realise that we are stronger if we work together and weaker if we fight against each other. We pray especially today for...

Universal God, we pray for all newcomers to our community. May they quickly feel at home here and may we be sensitive to any loneliness they might feel. Help any of our children who feel excluded by their classmates in school, and help us to encourage our children to grow up into responsible and caring citizens. Universal God, we pray especially today for any who suffer from socially unacceptable physical diseases and mental illnesses. We remember those who still suffer from leprosy, even though it is now a treatable disease, and we pray for those who devote their lives to healing. We pray for those of our own friends and families who are sick. We name them before you ...

Universal God, we hold in your presence for your gentle and affirming touch, those who are deeply saddened by a death.
