Good morning! Jesus says to us, "If anyone loves me, he will
obey my teaching." What do you think he means by that? (Let them
answer.)
Well, let's see if we can give you an example of what he
means. Suppose one of your parents tells you that you must do
something today. Let's say that they want you to clean up your
room. Now, there may be a lot of good reasons for cleaning up your
room as they have asked you to do, but what is the best reason?
(Let them answer.)
When we love someone, we want to do the things that please
them. Jesus is telling us that he wants us to obey him. He says
that we will do what he tells us to do if we really love him. Do
all of you really love Jesus? (Let them answer.) Okay, that's
good! Now what will we do because we love him? (Let them answer.)
Yes, of course, we will obey him because we love him. Now
where can we find the teaching of Jesus? Where do we look for his
instructions? (Let them answer.) We find his teaching right here
(show the Bible) in this book. If we love Jesus, we will study
this book and find out what he wants us to do.
Dear Jesus: We do love you so much and we know you love us. Help
us to know your will and to live the way you want us to live.
