Persistent
Children's Activity
Object:
SHARING THIS WEEK'S GOSPEL THEME
AT SUNDAY SCHOOL AND AT HOME
Directions:
1. This is a variation of "Mother, may I?" Have all the children stand in a line on one side of the room.
2. Select one child to be "Mother." Have him or her stand on the other side of the room.
3. Mother directs the children on how many steps to take. For example, "Take three steps."
4. One by one, the children ask permission to take these steps. They may ask to take baby steps, regular steps, giant steps, backward steps, or whatever steps they can imagine. Mother answers "yes" or "no" to each question as he or she pleases.
5. The first child to reach Mother wins.
6. Remind children that we have to be persistent in order to reach our goals. If they had not continued to ask Mother for permission, they could not have reached the other side of the room.
*Option: If desired, rename the game "Captain, may I?" to be gender neutral.
