In 1975 the People's Republic of China permitted an exhibition of their recently excavated artifacts to be displayed in San Francisco, Kansas City, and Washington, D.C. One of the chief attractions was the jade suit in which a Chinese princess had been buried. Small squares of jade had been stitched together with gold wire to cover her from the top of the head to the soles of her feet.
