"It's all right if we don't overdo it!", or "It was only a couple of beers!" These and other excuses for moderation become ridiculous sometimes. An alcoholic may not want to face his alcoholism; others engaged in questionable practices all seek a cover for their life styles. As pastors, we hear people try to excuse their sin by criticizing the church for being a conscience on such matters. Many shady operations would not stand the test of being brought to light. As Aldous Huxley once indicated from his own experience, we object because we do not want revealed just what we are.
