All Saints' Day is a time for Christians to remember, with love and appreciation, loved ones who are now in heaven. The early church celebrated this special day on May 13. The date was changed by Pope Gregory III in the eighth century, when he dedicated a chapel in the basilica of St. Peter's in Rome to "all the saints." This dedication occurred on November 1.
