All the world seems to be engaged in the mad pursuit of
happiness. Jesus tried to point people to the source of true
happiness. The happiness which he offered is more than a
lighthearted feeling; it is something that engulfs our deepest
self, and is not transient, but permanent. He speaks of
blessedness, true happiness, being found in such spiritual
qualities as purity of heart or hungering and thirsting after
righteousness.
