In ancient Persia, people told a fable about the time God made the earth. It was a barren plain. It had no trees or planets. God sent an angel to throw seeds everywhere on the earth. Satan saw the seeds lying on the ground. He decided that he would destroy them. Satan buried all the seeds in the ground. He called on the sun and the rain to make those seeds rot away. Satan saw the scorching sun and the drenching rain. He laughed at the ruin he thought he had achieved. Meanwhile, deep in the earth, the dying seeds germinated. New life sprang up. Out of death came life.
