Arthur Gordon in his book...
Illustration
Arthur Gordon in his book, A Touch of Wonder, tells the delightful story of living in a house by the sea as a young boy. One day when his father was storing some boxes in the attic, he suggested that they take a look at the roof. Up the shaking ladder they went until they reached the trapdoor at the top of the roof. His father unhooked the latch and opened the door.
Before his son's dazzled eyes lay the sea. It seemed gigantic and limitless. Below him the boy saw the tops of the trees and the backs of gulls in flight.
