Barbara had just met the new director of the retreat center, but after only ten minutes of conversation, she knew they operated out of different paradigms. Jason was obviously a farmer and had a farmer's prejudice against thorn and cedar trees. He preferred fields of clover, clear of so-called "nuisance" growth. Barbara came from the live-and-let-live school. In talking with Jason, Barbara had recognized their differences, and felt a need to respect and even accept Jason's plan for management of the retreat center property. Left to her, the whole place would slowly revert to wilderness.
