In baseball there are many rituals that players use when they play. One pitcher used to walk behind the mound, stare into space, slap his glove against his side and then go pitch. There are players and managers who never touch the white lines when they go on or off the field. Some fielders always step on a base as they leave the field. One shortstop does a flip before each game. Some batters spit on their hands while still others make the sign of the cross before they step to the plate.
