Brothers can be partners in making a mess out of things. Jim and Chuck would complain when their mother cleaned up their room because afterward they could never find anything. But their mom was undeterred. She'd say, "Cleanliness is next to godliness." When the two brothers became teenagers, Mom refused to clean up their room. She said that they were old enough to do it themselves, though they seldom did. When the mess became more than she could look at, their mom would simply close the door.
