Charles MacArthur sighed as he entered the church. Once again someone was sitting in his family's pew. He could remember his grandfather telling him that his great-great-grandfather had bought that particular pew when the church was first built almost 225 years ago. "Charlie," he'd say, "there's always been MacArthurs sitting this pew, and I pray that there always will be. We built this church and don't you ever forget it.
