As Christians, we are fond of depicting the world as "a vale of tears," and speak in our scriptures, songs, and prayers of our desire to shed the bonds of this earth and "rise to the glorious skies above." Yet, in all reality, most of us, as the agnostic is fond of saying, "are always talking about heaven, but don't really want to go there." Certainly it is true that we Christians -- including most ministers -- will fight "tooth and nail" to stay on this earth just as long as we possibly can, and that is the way it should be.
