Churches are competitive. For membership, money, and reputation for good deeds, churches are extremely competitive. This competitiveness is strange when done in the name of him who "though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor." We seem to have defined the mission of Christ's church as "more." More money for more outreach for more converts giving more money for more ... Seldom do we consider the times when the same God who calls us to excel, in his name, also calls us to less. Less competitiveness.
