The country of Persia (present day Iran) was once ruled by a wise king who cared very much for his people, and wanted to do what was best for them. In order to learn more about their needs, the king disguised himself as a poor man and went to visit some of his people at the public baths. The water for the baths was heated by a furnace in the cellar of the building. The king went down into the depths of the baths and sat beside the man who was tending the fire. As they talked, and shared the fire tender's lunch, they became friends.
