The death pax
Commentary
As a part of President Bush's budget and tax proposals, Congress will soon be debating the relative merits of the inheritance tax. Those who would like to repeal this tax are fond of calling it a "death tax," implying that the tax man will not only get you while you are living, but that he also shows up with his hand out at your funeral. Hardly anything elicits such negative and visceral reaction as the thought of paying taxes. This nation was born out of a tax rebellion and has not overcome its rebelliousness yet.
