Debbie grew up in the church and later, when she had her own family, she still attended
the same church. Not only were her parents a part of this church but her grandparents
played an important part in the church's history. Debbie knew the familiar Bible stories
about Jesus and taught them to her children.
In her mid-30s, Debbie decided to attend an in-depth Bible study. She felt awkward being part of the Bible study, after all she had been a Christian all her life. At first she was baffled not understanding what the Bible had to do with her personal life. She continued reading and studying each lesson, growing in her faith along the way. She discovered that Jesus needed to be the center of her life.
By the end of the study, Debbie's understanding of Jesus changed. She thought of Jesus as a great moral teacher who loved the little children and told interesting parables. She never quite understood why Jesus was crucified or its significance. The defining moment came when she realized that although Jesus suffered and died what was most noteworthy was that God raised him to new life and therein lies our hope that one day we too shall be with Jesus. It was the resurrection that mattered most.
The apostle John, in his powerful revelation, looked to Jesus who claimed, "I am the Alpha and the Omega."
