Dr. Peter Wise was a psychologist in Madison, Wisconsin, and Dr. Fred Koenecke was a psychiatrist. The three of us brought Lutheran pastor Richard Larsen into our team to provide courses in pastoral counseling for the local clergy. We found it comfortable, among the four of us, to push each other hard about our personal religion as well as about the counseling discipline. The topic of "listening" often came into our clinical studies. This led to "private confession" practiced by some of us.
