Driving down the highway in...
Illustration
Driving down the highway in northern Saskatchewan toward the town of Nai-cam, one can see a cross, outlined in red on a local church steeple. This cross can be seen for several miles from the south due to the flatness of the prairie terrain.
One winter night, a sudden blizzard sprang up. Whiteout conditions made driving next to impossible. Drivers caught on the road crept down the highway guided only by long grasses on the side of the road -- and the red cross that somehow shone through the white blowing snow, showing people that safety was close at hand.
