During the Civil War, during the bloodiest fighting in the history of this nation, the Presbyterians in the North raised the money to start a mission in the African country of Cameroon. And the Southern Presbyterians, while their cities were burning, raised the money to send a missionary to Brazil. If ever there was a bad time for the Presbyterians to give, that would have been it. But not only did those Presbyterians take care of their own churches and their own members, but they had the faith to raise the money to help other people around the world, even though they themselves were in need.
