During the Dark Ages, a savage tribe of Franks was baptized in mass. They were proud of their vocation as professional warriors. To make certain that they could continue to engage in fighting and killing, many of them entered the water holding their battle-axes out of the water. As they were immersed with their battle arms never touching the water, they then could say, "This arm has never been baptized," arguing that they could swing it again in the slaughter of their enemies.
