During the recess of a trial, the defense attorney looked up to discover his client, the defendant in the case, talking with one of the jurors. Fearing a mistrial, should anyone notice, the attorney quickly pulled his client away and chastised him: "Don't you know you're not supposed to discuss the trial with a member of the jury?"
"Oh, I wasn't discussing the trial," the defendant replied. "I was asking him if he remembered the $10.00 I loaned him several years ago."
