In early summer, there was a movie released in my area called, "The Believers." The theme of the movie was a religious cult that believed in child sacrifice for the continuing prosperity and growth of their people. The cult leaders would search and find a child they considered worthy to be sacrificed, and convince the parents that this child should die. The only protection for this chosen child and his family would be counter--religious experience of animal sacrifice to the gods of protection. In fear, the chosen child‚--ôs parents sought this protection for their child.
