Like Elijah, all of us have our wildernesses -- places where we are alone, where we flee from our enemies, where we wonder if we can survive, where the way is long and hard, where we could easily get lost. Think of the birds in their long flights from one horizon to another. Scientists have tried to explain the mystery of their amazing ability to fly, unerringly, from one part of the globe to another.
