Emphasis Preaching Journal

Every day I counsel veterans who come into a homeless veterans program. We talk about their situations. Often they have no families to turn to, but more than likely they have rejected their family of origin. And often as not, they have rejected their spiritual roots. They offer explanations that are shallow at best. I see the hurt all over their faces. I try to empathize with them, but it is hard because I know the love of family and the warmth of home. I have not rejected my heritage nor been rejected by my family of origin.
