"Eyewitness" accounts have become very popular on television as they seem to carry some added weight of "real life" to them. Video cameras capture chases and arrests in progress as they are happening. "Eyewitness video" uses video footage of amateurs to bring to our television screens footage of otherwise unrecorded events, such as a tornado or the crash of stunt planes. Other programs document emergencies and the response of ambulances or police to them.
