Florence Nightingale grew up in...
Illustration
Florence Nightingale grew up in a wealthy, aristocratic family. Her life had been neatly planned for her, and up to a point, she followed the plan. She attended a good school, learning the things thought to be important for girls of her station in life at the time: needlework, art, music, reading and deportment. But Florence had some other plans for life. Watching the young men around her go off to war in the Crimea day after day, she longed to be so dedicated to her country and a great cause.
