Glendon Harris wrote about Jeremiah's words, "Lord, thou hast deceived me." He characterized this passage as an example of "the fear of not being supported." He recalled the French psychologist, Coue, gave an unusual illustration. He described what would happen if you placed a four-inch plank across the floor. Anyone could walk the plank without difficulty. Suppose, however, that you placed this same plank above the street between the tops of high buildings. Few, if any, would want to walk across it.
