Having been a coward most...

Having been a coward most of her life, she had no difficulty whatever understanding the words from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar: "Cowards die many times before their deaths; The valiant taste of death but once." For the most part, she found little to appreciate in the works of this 16th century poet; in fact, she found his stuff decidedly dull. This was just one more area of her life in which she felt out of step with the vast majority of the world. Of course, being a coward, she could hardly express such an opinion -- especially not in her English class.
