He stood arms akimbo, his back to the spacious marble fireplace in his gracious drawing room of his beautiful mansion. With remarkable dedication he had risen from poverty to be a millionaire. Surveying his guests with a smile, he pounded his chest with clenched fist, "You see before you a self-made man!"
Self-made man? Had he forgotten his mother struggling in their poverty to give the alert young mind a chance to grow; the school teachers who had encouraged him; libraries free to him but given by others; and the friends and colleagues who had helped him in business?
