In her autobiography, On Reflection, Helen Hayes speaks about the necessity of faith. Quite philosophically, she writes she did not know how she could go on without faith. She relates it would be terrible to believe that there is nothing left when the sets are struck! She claims there is the play, but first there is the playwright. That sounds quite wise. And there is some wisdom in it. Miss Hayes is suggesting to us that when you consider all the options it just makes plain good sense that you have to have faith.
