I know that my Redeemer...
Illustration
"I know that my Redeemer liveth ..." has become one of the beloved portions of The Messiah by George Frederick Handel. Yet this affirmation did not come easily for suffering Job whose God seemed far away and capricious and whose friends were full of platitudes or pity but without warm human emotions toward him.
His anguish and feeling of being alone is so intense he would like to write these words in stone, not unlike one who had carved in the granite of his tombstone after he was buried, "I told you I was sick."
