I remember when 3-D movies became the rage in the 1950s. What a new and exciting concept in viewing that was. Because of the nature of the filming techniques, special glasses had to be worn, in order to get the full viewing effects. Without the glasses, the images were flat and distorted. With the glasses, the images were so real that one had the illusion of being able to reach out and touch the characters on the screen. That was big excitement for people in a farming community, whose greatest excitement was the passing of a car on a distant road.
