Jesus' friends bemoaned his "poor timing" which allowed the death of Lazarus, but the evangelist makes clear his absence was for a purpose. These are occasions when apparent bad timing can actually prove beneficial.
During the First World War, Winston Churchill went to France as a volunteer to observe the fighting firsthand.
