John the Baptizer had his priorities right. In the presence of Jesus, he showed proper humility, realizing it was he who needed baptism from Jesus, not the other way around.
It was not unlike the situation in which the French composer, Ravel, found himself. He was visited by the American musician, George Gershwin, who asked the European if he would consider giving him lessons. Ravel asked, "How much do you earn a year from your compositions?" Gershwin replied, "Between one-hundred and two-hundred-thousand dollars."
Ravel said, "Then it is I who must ask you to teach me to compose."
