John, Miriam, and their two sons had been driving north most of the morning, hoping they got home before the storm broke. The angry-looking clouds, moving from west to east, had grown steadily darker and more menacing the closer the family got to their destination. John brought the car to a stop at the intersection to wait for the light to change. "No, John!" Miriam said in a voice so stressed it hardly sounded like hers. "John, keep going!" she urged.
