On June 21, 58 B.C., the prophet spoke these words regarding Egypt, calling to mind the fate of Assyria, which had once been a mighty nation, but now was no more. The prophet used the allegory of a cedar tree to show that the cause of Egypt's fall was pride and political unreliability. The history of the world is full of nations and leaders that fell because they did not see the need for accountability to their peoples or neighboring nations. In modern times: Hitler in Germany, Marcos in the Philippines, Idi Amin in Uganda, among many others.
