Malcolm Gladwell's book, The Tipping Point, gives a number of examples
where one event changes everything. One sick person with the flu can start an epidemic;
the action of one person can start a new fashion trend; one action taken by the
government can result in a drop in the crime rate. As another author put it, this is the
power of "one." In Romans, one man's act of disobedience and trespass brought
condemnation for all. Likewise, one man's (Jesus') act of righteousness and his faithful
obedience led to justification and life.
