As Martha read Jeremiah 31:7-9 to her Sunday school class, a fascinating bit of speculation entered her mind and that speculation was fueled by some old memories and dreams. It had been almost 70 years since she had come to the United States as an energetic six-year-old. The politics of Germany had frightened her father to the point that he had made arrangements to uproot the family and sail to America. Fortunately there were some distant relatives in Illinois who agreed to help them get resettled in the new country.
