A novice woodworker, I set...
Illustration
A novice woodworker, I set out to apply a piece of Formica to a kitchen counter top. I carefully applied the contact cement to both surfaces, then got ready to lay the Formica on the counter. I didn't realize just how quickly the cement would set. Once the Formica made contact with the counter, it was stuck fast. The problem was, I hadn't laid it on straight. I had to pry it off piece by piece. It wasn't easy; pieces of the counter top came off with the Formica, and some chunks of Formica just wouldn't come off the counter. They had to be sanded off!
